OREGON COUNTY -- The American Cancer Society Heartland Division recently recognized two individuals in Oregon County for their dedication and service to the organization. The awards were presented Nov. 6 at West Plains.
The Oregon County Health Department and administrator Sheila Russell received the Patient Service Award for their efforts in providing the American Cancer Society services to cancer patients and their families in Oregon County.
Phillip Woods received the Community Income Award in Oregon County. As chairman of the volunteer planning committee, Woods was instrumental in starting the Relay for Life in the county that raised $3,600 its first year.
