Beverly Austin Garner, 75, of Hardy, Ark., died Oct. 23, 2003, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System in Cherokee Village. Born July 31, 1928, in Hardy, he was the son of the Rev. Robert A. and Clara Haskins Garner. He married Lois Holt in November of 1948. Beverly lived in Rochelle, Ill. for 26 years. He worked for the Del Monte can plant as a supervisor before retiring. He moved back to Hardy in 1978 where he enjoyed raising cattle, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Church of God in Hardy.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law -- Barbara and Ron Harper of Hardy, Linda and Mike Chunko of Rochelle, Ill., and Marilyn and Jerry Knight of Hardy; a son, Steven A. Garner of Hardy; eight grandchildren -- Lisa (Eddie) Rodriquez of Rochelle, Melissa (Van) Burgess of Jackson, Mo., Kevin Chunko of Rochelle, Richard Knight of Fort Worth, Texas, Alissa Knight of Mountain Home; and Brittany, Matthew, and Anthony Garner, all of Hardy; two great-grandsons -- Kane and Jake Rodriquez of Rochelle; a sister, Willa Hogan of Highland; and five brothers -- W.R. Garner and the Rev. Eugene Garner, both of Hardy, James Garner of Cherokee Village, the Rev. Leon Garner of Orlando, Fla., and David Garner of Thayer, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Troy Garner.
The funeral was Oct. 26 at Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland with burial following in Highland Cemetery. The Rev. Eugene Garner, the Rev. Leon Garner and the Rev. Tommy Garner officiated the service. Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland, Ark.
Pallbearers were Ron Harper, Jerry Knight, Mike Chunko, Bobby Gilbreath, Butch Wilson, and Tommy Garner.
Honorary pallbearers were Tom Sherill and Eddie Rodriquez.
