Jessie (Jessica) V. Swinney, 85, of Thayer, Mo., was born April 2, 1920, the daughter of the late Albert Massey and Willie York Massey in Wimberly, Texas. She died June 5, 2005, in West Plains, Mo.
She was united in marriage Jan. 8, 1943, in San Marcos, Texas, to Clarence George Swinney who preceed her in death Dec. 5, 1995.
She was a member of the Grand Gulf Shiloh Church in Thayer. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Trudy Brown and her husband, Bill, of Thayer; three grandchildren -- Daniel Brown and wife, Rebecca of West Plains, Mo., David Brown and wife, Christina, of Eureka Calif., and Amanda Carey and husband, D.J., of Thayer; eight great-grandchildren -- Kayla, Olivia, Cameron, Brittni, Mackenzie, Roan, Ethan and Morgan; three brothers -- Louis Joe Massey of Texas, Alton Massey of Texas and Ed Massey of New Mexico; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers -- Otis Ted Massey and Hugh Massey; and three sisters -- Vesper Massey, Virgie Honeycutt and Essie Lange.
Graveside services were June 8 at Koshkonong Cemetery with Bill Bales officiating. Burial was in the Koshkonong Cemetery with arrangements being under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer, Mo.
