James Daniel "J.D." Lambert, 83, of Ash Flat, died May 23, 2005, at his residence.'Lambert was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Roseboro, Ark., the son of Jerry Herman and Della Lambert.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II with Gen. George Patton. He was awarded five bronze stars and a good conduct medal while serving in the military.
He worked for John Deere for approximately ten years and then went into farming. He also owned a service station and an auto body shop.
He was formerly a member of the Spring River Car Club. He attended the Highland Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife, Adele M. Lambert of the home; three sons and their wives -- Les and Wanda Lambert of Ash Flat, Danny and Glenda Lambert of Bentonville, and Ervin and Karen Lambert of Cave City; one daughter and her husband, Judy and Willard McCollum of Ash Flat; one brother, Jerry Lambert of Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters -- Ruby Richey of Whittier, Calif., and Laveda Miller of Ankeny. Iowa; seven grandchildren -- Scott, Jamie, Becky, Derek, Alysa, Devon and Kurt; and 11 great-grandchildren -- Hunter, Shelby, Ashleigh, Lauren, Olivia, April, Sylvia, Marina, Atlee, Avery and Aiden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Velma Lambert; and two brothers -- Clarence Lambert and Billy David Lambert.The funeral service was May 26 at Myron Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Ellsworth officiating. Burial followed in the Old Baptist Cemetery at Ash Flat.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
Pallbearers included Les Lambert, Danny Lambert, Ervin Lambert, Scott Lambert, Derek Lambert and Kurt Lambert.
Honorary pallbearers were Willard McCollum, John Smith, Hunter Lambert and Aiden Lambert.
