James Curtis Foster, 84, of Lee's Summit, Mo., formerly of Salem, Ark., passed away May 18, 2005, at Research Medical Center.
He was born May 7, 1921, in Shawnee, Okla. James was a World War II veteran. He retired in 1982 from General Motors. He was an active member of the Lee's Summit Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elwanda Foster; two children -- Eldon Foster and wife, Ruth and Breda Baker and husband, Allen; two sisters -- Cleffie Dawson of West Virginia, and May McElmurry of Missouri; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Gladys Foster; and two brothers -- Jay B. Foster and Lester Foster.
The funeral service was held May 21 at First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit. Burial followed in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Langsford Funeral Home of Lee's Summit.
