Disaster help in the works locally

Thursday, April 1, 2004

OREGON COUNTY -- Tornados that rolled through southern Missouri last May caused Oregon County farmers and ranchers damage to their property and, in a few instances, to their livestock.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will send Missouri a total of $85,000 in federal funds to help with natural disaster that occurred in the state last year, including the May tornados.

Oregon County farmers and ranchers are urged to check with Jeff Lawrence at the Farm Service Agency at Alton to find out when funds will be available for those who qualify.
