William Dean "Hub" Haley of St. Matthews, S.C., died Aug. 1, 2005 at his residence.
He was born in Batesville, Ark., the son of the late William Virgil and Agnes Stewart Haley of Ash Flat. He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of First Baptist Church at St. Matthews.
He and his wife, Doris Crosland were married 60 years ago in First Baptist Church. They moved to California, remaining there for 28 years. He worked as manager for Goss Pre-cooling Service and moved back to South Carolina in 1975.
He served as a Bombardier in World War II with the 409th Bombardment Squadron Air Force Base, Charleston, S.C., and was discharged in 1945.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Crosland Haley of the home; two daughters -- Mrs. James Graham (Maureen H. Sturgis, Jr., Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs Paula Dean Haley-Richardson of Florence; three grandchildren Haley Crosland Sturgis, James Graham "Trip" Sturgis III and Madelyn "Maddie" Haley-Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his sisters -- Zelma Haley Dudley and Eudean Virgie Haley.
The funeral service was Aug. 3 at First Baptist Church. Burial was in the West End Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Dukes-Harley Funeral Home of Orangeburg, S.C.
