James Verlin Jones

James Verlin Jones, 96, was born Aug. 25, 1908, to Ernest and Evoria Sears Jones in Wild Cherry, Ark. He died March 8, 2005, in Crosby, Mo. He was residing in Crosby where he had been cared for by his daughter, Doris, for the past six years.
He married Eva Verna Dillinger Nov. 4, 1927. To this union five children were born: James Doyle Jones of Springfield, Mo., Betty Ann Copeland of Wichita, Kan., Bonnie Jean Davis of Fair Grove, Mo., Doris Nell Reasons of Crosby, and David Lynn Jones of Cave City, Ark.
He was a vital member of the Bexar community. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a hard worker; doing many jobs to support his family. He was a farmer, carpenter, electrician, forest ranger, Post Master and businessman, but most of all he was a gardener.
He gave his heart to God at an early age, and was eager to enter into his Heavenly Home to join his beloved, Verna.
He is survived by his five children; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a step-brother of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years on Dec. 4, 2002.
The funeral was March 12 at Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
Pallbearers were Mike Jones, Perry Griggs, Ryan Towner, Mark Towner, Brian Conley and Frank Thomas.
