Kathleen Kay Messer, 62, of Williford, Ark., died April 18, 2005, at her home.
Born Oct. 3, 1942, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, she was the daughter of Walter J. Hoover and Pearl A. DeWitt Hoover. She married Roger L. Messer Feb. 23, 1963, in Mt. Pleasant Iowa, She moved with her family to Hardy, in 1970. She was an active volunteer in her community and school, first at the Cherokee Elementary School and most recently as a paraprofessional at Williford Elementary School. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village.
Survivors include her husband, Roger, L. Messer of the home; two sons -- Roger Messer Jr. of Batesville, and Joseph Messer of Fairfield, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Calvin Pickett of Williford; a brother, Rodney Hoover of Trenton, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands -- Janet and Donald Ensminger of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and Mary Ann and Bruce Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and five grandchildren -- Jessica and Christopher Messer and Zachary, Whitney and Jacob Lester.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald Hoover.
A funeral mass was April 21 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Kevin Atunzu officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland, Ark.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Spring River Hospice in Cherokee Village.
