WEST PLAINS -- Fourth grade students in Lana Steed's and Ann Washam's class at Mammoth Spring Elementary School took a tour of the Rehabilitation Center and the emergency room at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains May 17.
Pam Ream, director of rehabilitation services, along with Heather Peugh shared some of the tools used by physical therapy patients and explained their uses. She also gave an overview of their department. While in the Rehab Department Mike Kenslow, physical therapy tech, showed the students equipment and procedures used on patients. They also toured the Occupational Therapy Department.
Bonnie Plotcher, infection control nurse, discussed several important tips with the children. She took them to the emergency room where Denise Lawson, nurse manager of the ER, showed them a critical care room. She answered several questions as well as explained some of the procedures and equipment used in the area. The students were given goody bags before leaving the hospital.
