Former Salem resident and Republican candidate for Baxter County Assessor Barry Humphries, 42, died May 13 of an apparent suicide.
Mountain Home Police detective Eric Neil said his department is still investigating the case but it appeared to be a suicide.
Neil said a note addressed to Humphries' family was found near the body.
Officials at the Mountain Home Police Department said the body was taken to the state crime lab in Little Rock for an autopsy. The results of the autopsy were not available at press time.
