OREGON COUNTY -- The Missouri Department of Transportation will close lanes of Route 142 West from Route PP and Route 142 East from 63 to V highway in Oregon County to perform a "chip-seal" asphalt resurfacing project this week.
MoDOT officials said weather and traffic could cause delays. Work hours on the project are tentatively scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
MoDOT officials are asking motorists to plan ahead and allow extra time due to work zone delays.
The work zone will be a moving operation and will involve only one lane of traffic being open at a time. MoDOT will employ "pilot" vehicles to lead traffic through the work zone.
Workers will be stationed at various points in the work zone to prevent drivers from heading toward oncoming vehicles. MoDOT urges motorists to proceed slowly to get through the work zone while driving on the fresh-laid surface.
Motorists should pay special attention to all work zone signs which will guide them through the operation safely.
MoDOT urges motorists to use alternate routes if possible when traveling this week.
