Air Force Capt. Stacey L. Coleman has graduated from Flight Nursing School, and has completed a survival, evasion, resistance and escape training course.
The captain is a flight nurse assigned to the 86th aero-medical evacuation squadron at Ramstein Air Base in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
She is the daughter of Ruth E. Coleman of Fort Smith and Jim M. Coleman of Hardy.
She graduated in 1986 from Jonesboro High School and received a bachelor's degree in 1993 from Arkansas State University.
Navy Seaman Rommel A. Serrano, son of Rosalinda A. Smith of Melbourne recently completed exercise Tandem Thrust '03 aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Essex, homebased on Fleet Activities, Sasebo, Japan.
Serrano is a 2000 graduate of Cord-Charlotte High School of Charlotte and joined the Navy in September 2001.
In exercise Tandem Thrust, units from the U.S., Australia and Canada worked together in crisis action planning and contingency response. The exercise included a full-scale amphibious landing, strike bombing runs, using live munitions and computer simulations.
USS Essex supports amphi-bious operations using landing craft air cushions, which are specially designed hovercraft that travel aboard land and sea surfaces and deliver vehicles and equipment. The ship also has conventional landing craft and helicopters and is equipped with medical facilities staffed by Navy doctors, dentists, nurses and corpsmen.
