W. A. Harris, 71, of Salem, Ark., son of the late Otis and Vernia Campbell Harris was born June 15, 1933 in Elizabeth, Ark. He died Dec. 11, 2004, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.

He married Vanita Smith July 15, 1954, at Elizabeth, Ark. To this union three children were born.

He served in the U.S. Army. He was a barber for over 20 years. He was a shop and road foreman for Fulton County for 12 years and he was employed by Cox-Blevins Funeral Home for several years.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, the Lions Club, the Arkansas Cattleman's Association and was on the board of the Fulton County Fair Bureau and the Fulton County Soil Conservation.

Survivors include his wife, Vanita of the family home in Salem; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Mimi Harris of Greenbriar; two daughters and son-in-law -- Karen and James Coffman of Salem, and Gayla and Craig Iberg of Greenbriar; grandchildren -- Mitch, Jade and Sam Harris of Greenbriar, Autumn and Lakin Coffman of Salem, and Misty, Stormy and Stoney Iberg of Greenbriar; a sister, Ethel Lou Brown of Salem; four nephews; and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers -- Pete and Orvilee Harris; and twin brothers who died in infancy.

The funeral was Dec. 14 at Salem Church of Christ with burial in Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
