Marion O. and G. Estelle Mullens celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their two daughters, neighbors and friends Aug. 6 at their home at 447 South Main Street in Salem.
Marion and Estelle were married Aug. 6, 1945, in Alexandria, La., when Marion came in for a short leave during World War II after being in the Pacific theater with the U.S. Navy.
They moved about quite a bit for the next 18 years in the Navy until his retirement in 1963.
After a year in Puerto Rico as short term missionaries to the deaf they came to build their home on Lake Norfolk in Rodney, Ark., where they lived for 10 years.
They spent the remaining years between Louisiana and Arkansas coming to live in Salem in 2001.
