Kenneth L. Zinda Sr., age 74, of Salem, Ark., died July 16, 2005, at his residence. He was born Nov. 28, 1930 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Louis and Esther Zinda. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Price Nov. 13, 1954, in Hegwish, Ill. Zinda was a veteran of the United States Marines, having served his country during the Korean War.
He was retired from the United States Postal Service. After retiring 14 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Zinda moved to Arkansas from Algonquin, Ill., he was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a avid bowler and fisherman and was active in his church. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Horseshoe Bend, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Zinda of the home; two sons and their wives -- Kenneth and Twila Zinda Jr. of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Daniel and Sheryl Zinda of Dewitt, Iowa; one daughter and her husband, Catherine and Jeff Maves of Batesville; two sisters and their husbands -- Sherry and Richard Yurgaitis of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Bonnie and John Schroeder of Mesa, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren -- Ashley Zinda, Nathan Zinda, Zachary Zinda, Brian Zinda, Stephanie Zinda, and Catelyn Maves and Adam Maves.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be announced or a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Legacy Hospice of Salem.
