THAYER -- Summer school will begin at Thayer School for grades K-12 June 2.
Thayer High School Principal Keven Hedden said summer school is an excellent way to meet graduation requirements in a variety of ways.
"Many students find that the pace and work load of the summer classes allow them to complete a course during the school year they may have failed. Some students are able to take a class during the summer that they would not be able to schedule during the regular year," Hedden said. "Other students take enrichment classes that are designed to extend the knowledge of the student beyond the level they could obtain in the regular year. Summer school culminates with a field trip for all who participate June 29."
The principal said all area students are encouraged to participate and can register at 7:30 a.m. the first day of classes.
High school classes that will be offered include: math, science, social studies, English, Spanish, driver's education and lifetime sports.
In conjunction with summer school, Thayer R-2 Schools will serve summer meals at no charge during the summer school session for children age 18 and under.
Breakfast at both the high school and elementary school will be at 7:30 a.m.
Lunch at the high school will be served at 10:30 a.m., and lunch at the elementary school will be served at 12:30 p.m.
