Jimmy and Betty Sue Perkins of Bono celebrated their 50th anniversary Dec. 26, 2004, with a reception in the fellowship hall at the Fontaine Baptist Church.
Jimmy Perkins and the former Betty Sue Whited of Ash Flat were married Dec. 27, 1954, in the home of the bride's parents, the late Calvin and Nova Whited, in the Corinth Community near Ash Flat by the late Rev. Joe Howell.
Hostesses for the evening were the couple's five children -- Calvin and Debbie Perkins, Jeff and Donna Perkins Woods, Robert and Daphne Perkins, Keith and Renee Perkins and Tracy and Anita Perkins Leonard; and grandchildren -- Rachel and Sarah Perkins, Wesley, Jacob and Nichollete, Dustyn, Hanna and Graycin.
Guests were greeted informally by the honorees. Betty Sue was presented with a corsage of a white and red poinsetta.
News travels far; Jimmy Ary, a buddy from Evening Shade, who they hadn't heard from since March 1955, called the couple from Idaho. The couple never knew what happened to him. He subscribes to The News.
