Johnny Mack Alligood, 77, of Salem, Ark., son of the late Coy I. Alligood and Leota Fraiser Alligood, was born Sept. 28, 1927, in Carthage, Miss. He died Dec. 21, 2004, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
He was united in marriage to Mary Sigrest on Aug. 6, 1947, in Picayune, Miss. To this union six children were born.
He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was welding foreman and supervisor for Halter Marine Ship Yard in New Orleans, La. He attended services at Lanton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the family home in Salem; his children -- Johnny (Sandra) Alligood Jr. of Monroe, La., Donald (Luana) Alligood and Edward "Butch" Alligood, both of Salem, Deborah (Melvin) Evans of Gulfport, Miss.; and David (Chris) Alligood of Slidell, La.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffany Alligood; a brother, Charles Alligood; a sister, Juanita King; and his father and mother.
The funeral was Dec. 23 at the Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem. Arrangements were by Cox-Blevins Funeral Home.
