Springers offer dance lessons

MAMMOTH SPRING -- The Mammoth Springers Square Dance Club has elected new officers for 2002-03. Newly elected officers include: John and Carolyn Powell, historian; Ted and Ollie Land, secretary-treasurer; Vic and Alita Griggs, president; Wayne and Diane Roberts, vice president and Arkansas state representatives; and Bob and Lois Bostic, Missouri state representatives.

The caller for the club is Phil Howell. Lessons for new square dance students began Sept. 12 and are open to new students for two more weeks.

The Mammoth Springers meet at 7:30 p.m. each Thursday at the Country Music Hall on Highway 63 in Mammoth Spring. Lessons are $3 per person per week until lessons are completed and students have graduated in the spring, then as full members, dues are $5 per person per month. Finger foods and beverages are shared each week. The group has danced at Shady Oaks in Thayer; Koshkonong Heritage Day, the Thayer Fall Festival and Solemn Old Judge Days.
