Ozarka College holds writing contest

Thursday, March 10, 2005

The English Department at Ozarka College has announced its sixth annual writing competition for high school seniors in Izard, Fulton, Sharp and Stone counties. Two students will be selected as winners of the writing competition and each will be awarded a one-year, full tuition scholarship to Ozarka College. Winning essays will be published in Ozarka College's collection of student writings entitled In Flight.

Writing may be any form of original work, including essay, poem or short story. The winner will be selected according to the work's creativity, insightfulness, organization, ability to hold the interest of the four-county community and grammar/mechanics. The length of the paper should fit the topic, and the pages should be typed double-spaced in 10- to 12-point font. Students should include title of paper, student name, name of high school and a phone number for award notification. Essays must be e-mailed or postmarked by April 5 and sent to: jfulbright@ozarka.edu or Ozarka College English Department, c/o Joanna Fulbright, P.O. Box 10, Melbourne, AR 72556. E-mail is preferred.
