Raleigh H. Emery II, 87, of Herndon, Va., died Feb. 26, 2005, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Born Jan. 14, 1918, at Harrison, Ark., he was the son of Raleigh Herbert Emery Sr. and Virginia Estes Emery.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corp and Air Force veteran having served in the Pacific during World War II. He was a retired electrical engineer, a devoted sports enthusiastic and athlete, a charter member of the Herndon Optimist Club and an enthusiastic member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Herndon, Va.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Catherine Delaney Emery; two sons -- Raleigh H. Emery III of Herndon,Va., and William C. Emery of Ashland, Ore.; a daughter, Virginia Esposito of Batesville; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral was March 1 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Batesville with Father Stanley Swiderski officiating.
A graveside service followed at Maplewood Cemetery at Harrison with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Service of Batesville, Ark.
Pallbearers were Raleigh Emery III, Domenick Esposito, Levi Alexander, Jimmy Stone, James Miller and Art Siler.
