ALTON -- The South Central Solid Waste Management District will hold a collection for waste tires Dec. 13-17.
The collection will take place at the Oregon County maintenance shed on Highway 19 near Alton. Hours for the collection will be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
According to SCSWM Director Lynda Roehl, the collection will be limited to 1,000 tires (a truck load).
Tires from business will not be accepted. She said all tires should be passenger size tires, 20 inches or less.
Roehl said this is the 22nd load of tires the SCSWM District has collected this year. She said money for the program comes from the tipping fee paid on each ton of waste tires that is taken to the landfill.
