The Salem Chamber elected its 2005 officers and board members Nov. 24 in Salem.
Current Chamber President Gary Phillips was re-elected, Mike Richardson from FNBC was elected vice president, MaLinda Coffman from the Fulton County Extension Office was elected secretary, and Patricia Watkins from the Bank of Salem was elected treasurer.
Phillips said the office of the past president was not filled. He said the Salem Chamber Board of Directors decided to add a director to the board for a one-year term to make up for the vacancy.
Dixie Harris of Aid True Value Hardware will fill the one-year board of directors seat.
Jerry Estes of North Arkansas Electric Coop was elected to a three-year term on the board of directors. He will join Harris, Sherry Jackson, Carolyn Lewis and George Thomas on the board.
Phillips said the chamber will hold the Salem Christmas Parade and courthouse lighting ceremony Dec. 6. He said cash prizes will be given to the best parade floats.
The Salem Chamber will have several goals after the new year, Phillips said. Those goals include putting a new roof on the Salem Welcome Center, expanding the chamber to include Viola and working with the Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce.
Phillips thanked Noble and Carolyn Lewis for donating a heat pump to the Welcome Center.
The next chamber meeting will be held Jan. 26.
