Book fair to raise money for library

Thursday, December 2, 2004

MAMMOTH SPRING -- Mammoth Spring Elementary School will hold a Scholastic Book Fair Dec. 6-10 from 7:40 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help raise funds for books and other materials for the elementary library.

The fair will feature specially priced books and educational products, including newly released works, award winning titles, children's classics, interactive software and current best sellers from more than 100 publishers.

"The book fair brings children, teachers and families together within a school and community to celebrate reading and learning," said Sandy Russell, library media specialist at Mammoth Spring Elementary School.

All children, parents, teachers and the entire community are invited. On Dec. 7 and Dec. 9 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the book fair will feature special family events with refreshments and drawings for free books.

During the family event on Dec. 7, Mammoth Spring Fire Chief Steve Simers will be at the library to share a story with the children. He will have the firetruck at the library and the children can have their picture made with him and the firetruck between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Storytime will begin at 5 p.m. and everyone is invited to come join the fun.

Fair attendees can help build classroom libraries by purchasing books for teachers through the Classroom Wish List program.
