SMSGT (Ret.) Hoover Heartley Herbert,, 76, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Nov. 25, 2004, at his home. Born in Coles Point, Va., he was retired from the United States Air Force after 30 years of service and worked for civil service for 10 more years.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Cherokee Players.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Herbert of Cherokee Village; two sons -- Stanley Herbert of Austin, Texas and Douglas Herbert of Springdale, Ark.; a daughter, Valerie Wood of Arkadelphia, Ark.; two brothers, Walter Herbert of Callao, Va., and Louis Herbert of Florida; three sisters -- Elizabeth Herbert of Virginia, Nona Herbert of Falls Church, Va., and Isabel Herbert of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother -- William Herbert and Elizabeth Herbert.
A memorial service was held Nov. 27 at the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Durham and Rev. Kay Wiggins officiating.
