Born 1-3-1912 -- Died 4-29-2004

Albert Luther "Red" Overstreet, son of the late Tom Overstreet and Cinderalia Lewis Overstreet, was born Jan. 3, 1912, in Rover, Mo., and died April 29, 2004, in Thayer, Mo., at the age of 92 years.

He served his country in the Merchant Marines and was an active member for the "Charles Burkett" American Legion Post 344 in Thayer, Mo., Masonic Woodside Lodge 582 in Thomasville, Mo., and was of the Methodist faith.

"Red" will be missed by all who knew and loved him.Survivors include his son, Eddie Ray Overstreet and wife, Angela, of Olive Branch, Miss.; a grandchild, Andrew; two great-nieces; and a great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers -- James, Thomas and William Overstreet; and two sisters -- Ida Richards and Sylvia Overstreet.

The funeral was May 2 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Bill Bales officiating. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery at Thomasville, Mo., with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.

Pallbearers were Richard Garrison, Van McGibney, Dwight Holmes, Sam Currier, B.J. Williams and John Goetting.

Honorary pallbearers were Allen Pender and Norman Trimble.
