Woodrow Wilson Talburt, 89, of Viola, Ark., son of the late John J. Talburt and Lottie Fleming Talburt was born Oct. 11, 1912 in Cumi, Ark. He died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro. He was married to Josie Taylor Trowbridge on Oct. 8, 1954 in Mtn. Home, Ark. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II where he earned four Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He was self-employed as a farmer, and was a member of the Baptist church.Survivors include his wife, Josie of Harrisburg, Ark.; his sons, Sammy Trowbridge and wife, Helen of Arbyrd, Mo., Randell Talburt of Jonesboro, Ark., and Wendell Talburt and wife, Charlotte of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Debra Talburt Bonner and husband, Denney of Statesboro, Ga.; one sister, Vera Evans of Missouri; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Hart; Marion Trowbridge, Wayne Trowbridge; Randy Jo Talburt, Lacey Jo Talburt, and Tripp Bonner; eight great-grandchildaren; and a host of other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Hoots; three borthers; three sisters, and his father and mother.Services were Monday, Nov. 19, 2001 at Cox-Blevins Chapel of Salem, at 2 p.m. with John Hodges officiatiang. Burial was in the Custer-Herron Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
