Charles H. Corbett, 83, of Mammoth Spring, formerly of the Thayer area, died July 22, 2004, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark.
Born May 9, 1921, in Birch Tree, Mo., he was the son of William and Leona Bacher Corbett.
He was married to Ila Mae Hurtt on Jan. 18, 1947.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He was a member of the Vincent-Langston-Lunn VFW Post 7831 in Mammoth Spring.
He retired from Bendix Corporation in Kansas City, Mo., after many years of service.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and many friends.
He was a member of the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Ila Corbett of the home in Mammoth Spring; a daughter, Janice Hendershot and husband, Gary, of Liberty, Mo.; two sons -- Stanley Corbett and wife, Becky, of Hixson, Tenn., and Larry Corbett and wife, Peggy, of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; five grandchildren -- Bryan Corbett and wife, Whitney, of Mountain Home, Ark., Brad Corbett of Aberdeen, S.D., Angie Corbett of Raytown, Mo. and John David Hendershot and wife, Missy of Liberty, Mo.; a great-granddaughter, Katy Corbett of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a brother, Bill Corbett; and three sisters -- Lona Corbett, Bess Branscum and Jewell Doctor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Christopher Corbett; three brothers -- Raymond, Gene, and Howard Corbett; and three sisters -- Melva, Grace and Martha.
The funeral was July 24 at the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ with Ted Clarke officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer, Mo.
