Chad R. Towns, a senior at Arkansas State University, has been named to the 2002 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Towns is majoring in animal science with an emphasis in the pre-veterinary field in the College of Agriculture at ASU.
Dr. Less Wyatt, president of the university, and deans of the various colleges recognized award winners at a dinner Nov. 26 in the Convocation Center in Jonesboro.
Among Towns' many activities and achievements at ASU, he is vice president of the Block and Bridle Club and secretary of the Pre-Veterinarian Club. He is president of the ASU Chapter of Collegiate Future Farmers of America and chapter president of Delta Tau Alpha Honor Society.
His parents are Michael Towns of Chickamaunga, Ga., and Kathy Gaffney of Salem.
An ASU nominating committee and editors of the Who's Who directory selected 99 outstanding students for the 2002 edition.
The award is based on academic achievement, university and community service, and leadership. The annual directory, published since 1934 honors outstanding students at more than 1,800 institutions in the United States and other countries.
