Homemakers donate to needy

Wednesday, November 28, 2001

Beary Christmas: Seventy-six bears for kids to cuddle on Christmas morning will be distributed by the Salvation Army to needy families.
Christmas might be a little merrier for some children thanks to the kindness of the Fulton County Extension Homemakers Council and other EHC members from various cities.Women from the EHC donated their time and skills to dress 76 bears as a community service project sponsored by Peoples Bank. These bears will be distributed by the Salvation Army to families that qualify by meeting income guidelines. Alene Bates, advisor of the Fulton County EHC, said that in the past, two Fulton County members have received awards for the best dressed bear. "The ladies enjoy doing this," Bates said. It has been a tradition for the past seven years.
