This past Sunday was supposed to be a nice family outing, but instead it ended up being an ordeal.
My family and I went out to eat at a local restaurant. We encountered about 100 different aromas from perfume and cologne worn by women and men alike.
I think all those aromas together should have been registered as a lethal weapon. The results were an instant headache for me which lasted all day.
For those of you who don't suffer from headaches, I doubt you can muster much sympathy for me. But for those of you who are plagued with headaches, you know where I'm coming from.
My dad started complaining that his throat was burning. I said, "Dad it's the perfume, I'm telling you."
This might sound trivial to many people. But Sunday is my only day off. I prefer to enjoy the day rather than suffer through the day.
I realize that most people aren't even aware of how strong their cologne is. Most folks do not intentionally go out of there way to inflict pain and suffering on another. Generally speaking when people go out their concerns are looking nice and smelling good.
But I think the public needs to be aware of what these aromas can do to a person. I've heard very little in the public about perfumes.
Workers in the health field are encouraged not to wear perfumes because patients can have allergy or sinus problems.I'm not trying to tell folks not to wear cologne. I'm just trying to make people aware of how these aromas can bother someone nearby.
So the next time you're getting ready to apply perfume just remember that less is more.
