Joseph Andrew Clarke, 81, of Willford, Ark., died Friday, Dec. 289, 2001 at his home. He was born on Feb. 7, 1920 in Hardy, Ark., the son of Mary (Rudisaile) Clarke and Edmund Clarke. He was a farmer, carpenter, Kamp Kia Kima Boy Scout Ranger (14 years), Green Thumb at Williford School (8 years), Veteran of U.S. Army awarded Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster with valor, Korean War service medal; served during World War II and the Korean War, Elder of Ward Street Church of Christ for 25 years.Survivors include his wife, Essie Pearl Clarke of Williford; one son, Thomas Clarke of Englewood, Colo.; one daughter, Sharron Nancy Osburn of Colorado Springs, Colo; two brothers, Ervin Clarke of Lexa, Ark., and Paul Clarke of West Plains, Mo.; and two sisters. Rose Edna French of Mammoth Spring; and Catherine Russell of Hardy; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Charles, Byron, William (Bill), and Ronald Clarke; and one sister, Rachel Johnson.Services were Monday, Jan. 31, 2001 at the Ward Street Church of Christ at 10 a.m. with Bro. Tom O'Neal and Tom Clarke officiating. Burial was at Highland Cemetery at Highland with arrangements under the direction of Heath Funeral Home, Oak Hill Chapel of Hardy, Ark.Pallbearers were Steve Clarke, Allen Clarke, Wayne French, James french, Lowell French, Kevin Ozburn.Honorary pallbearers were Bob Slayton and Jim Park.Memorials can be made to Paragould Children's Home, 5515 Old Walcot Rd., Paragould, Ark. 72450-9983.
