Arrested was Mary F. Hardwick Jr. from Arcadea, Fla. Davis said Hardwick has been living in a mobile home park in the city with her mother for about three weeks.
Davis said he had been investigating the woman after receiving numerous complaints about her approaching people in the Stateline parking lot and the mobile home park where she was living.
Davis said he also received a complaint from the owner of the mobile home park saying he wanted her banned from the park due to complaints about her illegal activity.
The police chief said on Oct. 1 he confronted Hardwick about the complaints of prostitution that had been made against her.
She admitted she had been having sex for money," Davis said.
He said he also asked her if she had come out of a local motel earlier. She said yes. Davis said he had observed her coming out of the motel and walking to Flashmarket.
Hardwick stated that she had been at a motel earlier with a truck driver who had given her $50 for "straight sex."
"She admitted that the $30 in her hand, when I stopped her, was what was left after buying cigarettes and a phone card at Flashmarket," Davis said.
Davis said he then went to the motel and interviewed the truck driver. "He said she had approached him and solicited him for sex, stating that she would do 'anything' for money," according to Davis. The truck driver stated they had sex and she took his money in exchange. He said she then took a shower and left.
Davis said during his interview with Hardwick she stated that she had done several "tricks" for cash in Mammoth Spring.
The police chief said she was out on bond from Florida pending charges after swallowing crack cocaine while she was being arrested. Davis said he checked with Florida officials and they confirmed the drug charges as well as numerous other drug related charges.
The police chief said Hardwick was released on bond pending a court date.
He said the investigation is on-going with more charges possible.
In Arkansas prostitution is a class A misdemeanor.
