Wellie Clay Stogsdill, 95, of Alton, Mo. was born Jan. 3, 1906 in Alton, Mo., and died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at the National Health Care in West Plains, Mo. He was a retired sawmiller and carpenter and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.Survivors include one daughter, Fern Freeman of Mtn. Home, Ark.; three sons, Kenneth Stogsdill of Alton, Hugh Stogsdill of Bourbon, Mo., and Harold Stogsdill of Madison, Ill.; one brother, James "Jack" Stogsdill of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Violet Roy of Alba, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mary Perkins Stogsdill; his wife, Mae Rice Stogsdill; four brothers, Roy, Orbie, Walker and Jennings Stogsdill; and two sisters, Meekie Honeycutt and Nola Hollis.Services were Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church with Bro. Joby Steele officiating. Burial was in the Cave Springs Cemetery with arrangments under the direciton of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, Mo.
