Rickey and Gayle Saunders of Salem have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Stephanie Nicole, to Bryan Russell Pearce-Gonzales, son of Russell and Mary Pearce of Gainesville, Va.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Tressie Saunders of Salem and the late J.P. Saunders, and the late Herbert and Willa Williams. She is a 1998 graduate of Salem High School, a 2002 summa cum laude graduate of Lyon College in Batesville with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and psychology, and is currently in the doctoral program working toward her master's degree in Hispanic studies at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Ralph and Mary Pearce of Mansfield, Ohio, and the late Benito and Romona Gonzales of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is a 1995 graduate of C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Va., and a 1998 graduate with a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Radford University in Radford, Va.
He received his master's degree in Hispanic studies in 2000 from the University of Kentucky at Lexington and is currently working on his Ph.D. in Hispanic studies.
The wedding will take place on the evening of July 3 at the Rock/La Roca United Methodist Church with a garden reception following at the Bodley/Bullock Manor Home in the historical district of Lexington, Ky.
Following a honeymoon in Costa Rica the couple will live in Lexington, where they will be continuing their education and teaching at the University of Kentucky.
