The body of an elderly man found in Izard County June 20 has been identified and his cause of death has been determined.
Charles Bolte, 74, of Crawford, Colo., died of pneumonia approximately two months ago, according to a preliminary autopsy report released by the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office.
Izard County Sheriff Joe Martz said Bolte was found in a cabin off Jumbo Road in the Mill Creek area. He said the cabin belongs to a person in California.
"He (Bolte) would come down from Colorado and watch the cabin for a couple of months out of the year for a friend," said Martz.
Martz said Bolte traveled to several different locales through the year, including Aspen, Colo. He said Bolte's nomadic nature is the reason his disappearance wasn't reported sooner.
"He would maybe go to the store or doctor while he was in the area but he kept to himself. When he decided to leave he would just go and nobody would know," he said.
Bolte's body was discovered by a local property owner. The complete autopsy report will not be completed for several weeks, Martz said.
