Bend man faces drug charges

Friday, March 28, 2003

A Horseshoe Bend man was arrested March 18 after authorities raided the home located at 1201 Scenic Acres Circle and discovered marijuana plants estimated at $16,000 in street value.

Horseshoe Bend officers Carl Boles and Mark Long and a probation/parole officer traveled to the home in Horseshoe Bend for a home visit on Jessie Cap, 18, who is currently on probation, said Lt. Sam Ray of the Horseshoe Bend Police Department.

During the visit officers discovered what appeared to be marijuana plants and items of drug paraphernalia. The 16th Judicial Drug Task Force was contacted and a search warrant was issued for the residence and property, said Scott Russell, DTF chief investigator.

Officers discovered 16 plants in various stages of growth inside the residence, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and a firearm.

Russell said stolen property was recovered by authorities during the search and seizure.

Cap and two other men, Tim Walls, 18, of Horseshoe Bend and David Kinard, 21, of Little Rock, were transported to the Izard County jail.

Walls and Kinard were released and no charges were filed against the two men. Cap still remains in jail on a $5,000 bond. Cap faces charges of manufacturing of a controlled substance, marijuana; simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms; and possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent to use.

Cap is expected to face additional charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, Russell said.

He is scheduled to appear in circuit court April 29 at the Izard County Courthouse.
