Gwendolyn Leigh Merritt of Cherokee Village and Gregory Edward Barborek of Russellville have announced their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Colles of Cherokee Village, and Paul B. Merritt III of Pensacola, Fla. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Verdel of Ash Flat, Julia Pape of Pensacola, Fla., and the late Paul B. Merritt II. She is a graduate of Highland High School and holds a master's degree in physical therapy from the University of Central Arkansas. She is employed as a physical therapist at Lane Physical Therapy Center in Russellville.
The prospective groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Barborek of Russellville, and the grandson of Kitty Woestman of Russellville, the late Ed Woestman and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barborek Jr. He is a graduate of Russellville High School and holds a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Arkansas. He is employed as an architect with Crafton, Tull & Associates Inc. in Russellville.
The wedding will be at 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Subiaco.
Friends and relatives are invited.
A reception will follow at the Russellville Country Club.
