Born 8-27-1916 -- Died 6-13-2004
Onah Beth Dihel, of Viola, daughter of the late Charlie Dixon and Lee Jackson Dixon, was born Aug. 27, 1916, in Fulton County, Ark. She died June 13, 2004, at the Mary Jane Foster home in Viola at the age of 87 years.
She married Ray Dihel Dec. 24, 1937, in West Plains, Mo. To this union six children were born. She was owner/operator of the Viola Cafe from 1958 through 1965, when she sold the cafe and went to work for the Viola Public School System from which she retired in May of 1982 after 17 years of service. She was a member of the Viola Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children -- Elva Lee Gonzalez and husband, Heleodoro, of Fort Worth, Texas; Elvis Dihel and wife, Kay of Frisco, Texas, Donnie Dihel and wife, Edie of Kennesaw, Ga.; and Mary Clark and husband, Robert, of Mountain Home; a sister, Lona Cantrell of Viola; two brothers -- Floyd Dixon of Santa Anna, Calif., and Loyd Dixon of Tustin, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; two daughters -- Eulene Harber and Rebecca Garner; three brothers -- Otis, Boyce and Youlen Dixon; a sister, Lois Dixon; and her father and mother.
The funeral was June 16 at Viola Baptist Church with burial in the Viola Cemetery. Arrangements were by Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
