William Dallas Chronister, 87, of Kansas City, Kan., formerly of Alton, was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Alton, Mo., the son of Ora Edward Chronister and Arena Josephine Parrott Chronister. He died Sept. 12, 2005, in Kansas City. He was married on June 17, 1939, in Alton to Agnes Bernice Campbell. He was a former Oregon County resident before moving to Kansas City. He was an assembly worker for General Motors for many years and a veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country during World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby James Chronister and wife, Frances, and Billy Gene Chronister and wife, Geraldine, all of Kansas City; one daugher, Joyce Pacheco, of Kansas City; three brothers, Ivan Chronister and wife, Nadine, Dorlas Chronister and wife, Lucille, and Gene Chronister and wife, Wanda, all of West Plains; one sister, Louise Shrum and husband, Houstin, of West Plains; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister, Clessie Shehorn.

The funeral was held Sept. 16 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Bales officiating. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery with arrangements by Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
