MYRTLE -- The eighth annual Myrtle Yester-Daze will be Sept. 24 up and down Main Street at Myrtle
The festival will start with a flag raising ceremony at the community center at 7 a.m. A pancake/sausage breakfast prepared by the Myrtle VFD will begin immediately following.
Many activities are planned throughout the morning. Some of them and times they occur are:
8:30 a.m. -- Amateur photo contest
8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. -- Washer pitching contest
8:30 a.m. -- Horseshoe pitching
9 a.m. -- Quilt show
11 a.m. -- Wood splitting contest
The parade will start at 10 a.m. with lineup at 9 a.m.
Lunch will be prepared by the Myrtle VFD.
Afternoon activities include:
Noon -- Re-enactment by the South Fork Regulators
12:45 p.m. -- Poster contest
1 p.m. -- Baby back rib eating contest
1 p.m. -- Kids frog race
1:30 p.m. -- Old fashioned women's chore relay
2 p.m. -- Peddling tractor contest
3:30 p.m. -- Lumberjack and chain saw contest
Craft booths are available and there is no charge to participate in any event. Some of the extra activities at the festival include a spinning wheel, square dancing and train rides for the kids.
