CLASS ON SNAKES: Jamie Mullins
Jamie Mullins, an employee of the Spring River Fish Hatchery, and Richard Shopen, a retired employee, brought several turtles and poisonous and nonpoisonous snakes to third graders at Mammoth Spring Elementary School recently. Students were taught to appreciate the role of snakes and turtles in the environment. Of special interest was a timber rattler that had given birth to its young. Students were fascinated with a large boa and were allowed to touch it. Shopen showed the boa to the class.
