Gwen Cozort, 94, of West Plains, Mo., was born Nov. 13, 1909 in Glencoe, Ark., the daughter of the late John Polk Southard and Loma Ann Vail Southard.

She died Sept. 26, 2004, in West Plains, Mo.

She was married on Jan. 6, 1929, in Glencoe to Walter Curtis Cozort, who preceded her in death April 23, 1961.

She was a member of the Curry Street Church of Christ. She taught school for several years and drove the school bus.

She spent her life on the farm and was an avid gardener. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include seven children -- Herbert W. Cozort and wife, Wilma, of Nixa, Mo., Conrad Cozort and wife, Blanche, of West Plains, Curtis Cozort and wife, Anita, of West Plains, Norris Cozort and wife, Ivene, of West Plains, Johnny Cozort, of West Plains, Kirby Cozort, and wife, Penny, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Rose Ann Bales and husband, Joe "Buddy," of West Plains; three sisters-in-law -- Launita Southard of Melbourne, Cleta Southard of Salem, and Nova Gault of Newport; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers -- Orby Southard, Roby Southard, Bert Southard and Hobart South- ard; three sisters -- Ruth Mullins, Maxine Lundy and Tressie Braw-ley and one grandchild.

The funeral service was held Sept. 29 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in West Plains with Evangelists Joe Spangler and Neale Phipps officiating.

Burial was in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of West Plains.
