Ruby Newton Davis, 73, of Bakersfield, Mo., daughter of the late John Henry and Veda Ethel Skelton Newton was born July 9, 1930, in Elizabeth, Ark. She died Sept. 30, 2003, at West Plains, Mo.
She spent her working years as a housewife, mother, foster mother and worked for the Essex Lumber Company and the JC Penney Company.
She taught Sunday School and church training for 50 years. She was a member of the Bakersfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Gregory Wayne Robbins of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Margaret Ruth Bender of Sacramento; two brothers -- Marvin Newton of Viola, Ark., and Evertt Newton of Greenbrier, Ark.; two sisters, Ruthy Davis of Elizabeth, Ark., and Veda Brazzell of Paragould, Ark.; five grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, Dudley Wayne Robbins and Woodrow Jack Davis, her parents; four brothers -- Grady Newton, Leon Williams, Ray Gene Williams and Richard Newton; and two sisters, Francis Rubel and an infant.
Services were Oct. 4 at the Viola Baptist Church with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment was in the Wake Cemetery at Elizabeth, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
