Robert David (R.D.) Benbrook, 77, of Salem, Ark., was born Jan. 28, 1918, in Calico Rock, the son of the late Ewell Olen and Ethel Staggs Benbrook. He died May 27, 2005, at his home.
He was united in marriage to Frances D. Spriggs on Aug. 3, 1964, at Buffalo, Wyo. He spent his working years as a heavy equipment operator. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin Moore and husband, John of Camp; a step-daughter, Sharon Wright and husband, Reese of Viola; a sister, Glenna F. McAdams of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Benbrook of Pineville, Ark.; three grandchildren -- Daniel, Seth and Katie Moore of Camp; two step-grandchildren -- Gary and Robert Baker of Viola; two nieces -- Monte Neal and husband, Dwight, of Viola and Kathy Cotton and husband, Trent, of Huntsville, Ark.; three nephews -- Jerry Benbrook and wife, Dee, of Olney, Mont.; Jeffy Stacy of Huntsville, Ark.; and Benny Benbrook of Whitefish, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; mother-in-law, Robert Delmotte; and two brothers, Gary and Jack Benbrook.
The funeral service was May 29 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Monte Neal officiating. Interment was in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dewayne Bishop, C.J. Bishop, Darryl Koelling, Dwight Neal, Randal Langston and Keith Langston.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Scott and the guys from company A, -- Jim Cummins, Bill Lamberson, Don Radcliff and Frank Gac.
Memorials are preferred to the Salem Cemetery Association.
