MRID Commissioner John Miller Jr. tendered his resignation as commissioner at the meeting Sept. 11. Also, Commissioner Jim Thompson announced Will Robson, MRID maintenance supervisor, had been fired.
Miller said he resigned due to personal and health reasons effective Oct. 31.
In other business, Thompson gave the financial report for August: income $41,645.48; expenses $76,895.79; net loss $35,250.31; year-to-date income $379,044.51; expenses $437,387.62 with a net loss of $58,343.11.
The pro shop reported 2,875 rounds of golf played in August, 303 less than in July. Rounds played in August 2002 were 3,072, a decrease this year of 197. Rounds of golf played this year totaled 16,006. Hours of operation for September are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. October hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
Twilight golf starts at 4 p.m and in October it will start at 3 p.m.
A suggestion was raised regarding Pioneer Lake beach and the cleanup work that is necessary to maintain it. Concerns were expressed about the water quality in Crown Lake. Testing methods were discussed and water safety and buoy placement were also mentioned. The topic will be addressed next spring with the Boating and Fishing Club and with City Hall.
Commissioners discussed changing the meeting time to 6:30 p.m. instead of 3 p.m.
A suggestion was made to raise the rent for the Loft (lounge/restaurant) from the current yearly fee of $100 but no action was taken.
Commissioners are trying to determine hours of operation during the fall and winter for Our Town Mini Golf Course.
