Driscoll nominated for West Point

Thursday, February 3, 2005

KOSHKONONG -- U.S. Sen. Christopher Bond has announced that he has nominated Joseph D. Driscoll of Brandsville for an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Driscoll is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Driscoll.

Driscoll is a senior at Koshkonong High School where he is active in Student Council, Spanish Club and Quiz Bowl. He has served as class president and is active in Boy Scouts. He also competes in boxing and cross country.

"It is always difficult to choose the nominees from hundreds of well qualified applicants," said Bond. "But Joe's particular combination of community, academic and extra-curricular accomplishments set him apart from the rest."

Bond said Dris-coll's nomination does not guarantee an appointment to the academy, but places him into a pool of competitive candidates.

Academy officials make the final selection of candidates who will attend classes beginning this summer.
