Joesph Bentz Pointon Jr., son of the late Joseph Bentz Pointon and Gertrude Iola Antrim Pointon was born June 13,1924 at Stillwell, Ind. He died July 9, 2003, at Mountain Home, Ark., at the age of 79.

He married Mary Helen Disbrow Dec. 25, 1942, at LaPorte, Ind., and to this union six children were born. He spent his working years as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He manufactured radiators, helped build semi trailers, was a Pinkerton Captain in North-west, Ind., and was a maintenance worker for Vanguard High School in Ocala, Fla.

He served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a first scout and served in all five major battles. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4772, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 55, and the American Legion 346, all of Highland, Ark. He was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Pointon of Salem; four sons - Joseph B. Pointon II, of Del Ray, Fla., James Edward Pointon of Indianapolis, Ind., Michael L. Pointon of Valparaiso, Ind., and Kurt A. Pointon of Martinsville, Ind.; two daughters - Connie J. White of Atlanta, and Patti A. Pointon of Columbia, Mo.; one brother, Guy Roy Pointon of LaPorte, Ind.; two sisters - Edna Lain of La Porte and Wilma Arnieta Edwards of Goose Creek, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

The funeral was July 11 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Van Brown officiating. Interment was in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
