OREGON COUNTY -- The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will perform a crack sealing operation on Route 142 in Oregon County from the Ripley County line to Thayer this week. MoDOT officials said weather could cause delays in the work.
Officials also said to perform the operation, a work zone will be required. MoDOT is asking that motorists plan ahead and allow extra time due to potential work zone delays and use alternate routes if possible. The work zone will be a moving operation and will involve only one lane of traffic being open at a time. MoDOT will have a flagman in place to help direct traffic through the work zone. It urges motorists to proceed slowly to get through the work zone and to pay special attention to all work zone signs.
MoDOT performs crack sealing by adding an asphalt to cracks in the existing pavement as a preventive maintenance treatment.
